I don’t know about you but the hardest thing about making a new account (on soompi, wordpress, fanfiction, twitter…ETC) is thinking up a username.
20 characters (?) that pretty much encapsulate YOU. All of you. Usually seems mysterious and makes people want to visit your profile or at least CLICK on your username. Some people are lucky, a slight clever modification of their name makes possible a few good usernames… i.e. thewinekone (toe – knee – hwin), imchrystalclear
Bonus points for oxymorons, even more points if you can be witty in 20 characters. Sometimes combinations of two (or more) words that are seemingly unrelated will result in a ‘compound’ word username that has the ability to make anyone (who sees your username) to click it. It’s kinda hard to explain… you know the ones like this: bluebanana, wholewheatbook, pencilcoffee, daflyingrock…
OK, so I can’t think of any off the top of my head.
Here are some straight off the net;

You know what I hate? People thinking the Facebook name is a username.
Honestly, I get people NOT putting their REAL NAMES on Facebook. It ticks me off, I feel like taking them off my friends list, I don’t call anyone xXxnatashaxXx (that was an example), or sWeEtCoOkIeObSeSsIoN, or whatever.
So, what about me? Me and MY usernames. I’ve had a really long phase of ‘clearnote’-ism. The ‘-note’ bit probably stemmed from my major obsession with Death Note and all things L and Light. No idea where the ‘clear’ bit came from. It stuck. For a long time. It was literally superglued to my brain. Then I had an email idea; imchrystalclear. Wow, how original. That was a one time thing. I swear. I had a ‘crystalclear147′ phase as well.
Another thing I get annoyed at: when your ideal username is taken and they expect you to accept the username WITH a few ugly numbers tacked onto the end. THE ONLY NUMBERS I WILL EVER ACCEPT ARE 147, 27 and 18 (27 and 18 have been recently added onto the list because of KHR!)
Now I just got another idea. (Which is why I’m writing this post). I was wondering what blogging on blogspot (wordpress FTW, no idea why though) was like, so I planned to find out by signing up and checking out the features and stuff. I had to come up with username and blog name crap. I was going to go with clearnote… BUT that internet alias has been so thoroughly used by me, I felt like I needed a new internet identity. Hence a brainstorm session was initiated. ONE MINUTE passed. I came up with ’snowcloud’.
erm… any significance? Not really, just my love for snow and all things white and fluffy. I guess… kinda grade 6-ish though. But I was literally thinking: ‘meh, it’s just for fun’.
So then it was the blog name. *DING!* I quickly typed in ‘the drifting snowcloud’ seeing as it quite obviously described my current situation. Then I had a major brainwave.
Clearly Canadian. OMG, so I still had some of that clearnote superglued in my head, but SERIOUSLY, that username/blogname is SOOOOOO me. I deleted the drifting snowfluff crap and typed in ‘clearly canadian’.
Click *check avaliability*
TAKEN!? TAKEN?!
FREAKING TAKEN!?
WHO HAD THIS SAME BRAINWAVE AS ME!?
WHO?!
Fueled by my new discovery I typed in ‘clearlycanadian.blogspot.com’ and was zipped to the blog (LOVE FAST INTERNET)… the blog had exactly two posts. Both written in 2006. That’s officially SO THREE YEARS AGO! And there was swearing. And there was not one hint Canada in either of the posts.
So I went back and typed ‘the drifting snowcloud’ and clicked ‘done’.
BUT, from now on, my username is SO going to be ‘clearlycanadian‘.
